CodeWars: Help Topics

If you've forgotten your account password (hey, who hasn't?), you may enter your account e-mail address here, and if we find an account matching that e-mail address, we will start the process of resetting your password by sending you an e-mail which will allow you to reset your password.

Please note: There is a cooldown waiting period of 24 hours on this function to prevent bots and spammers (or bored internet denizens) from abusing this function. So please double-check the e-mail address you are entering, because if you make a typo you will have to wait 24 hours before trying again.

If you cannot find the verification e-mail we sent to the person who signed your Waiver and Release Form, you can use this form to have it resent.

If you are receiving an error which says you cannot login due to too many failed attempts to log in recently, you can attempt to use the automatic account unlock function here. Please understand that this function will not unlock an account which has been manually locked by an admin for bad behavior.

Please note: There is a cooldown waiting period of 30 minutes on this function to prevent bots and spammers (or bored internet denizens) from abusing this function.

Due to the rise of Large Language Model (LLM) Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) chatbots (often called "AIs" in the media), and their tendency to train on any data not nailed down behind an account or a paywall, HPE CodeWars has been forced to lock down our contest files going forward. Starting in 2024, in order to access the contest problems, datasets, or solutions from an event, all users must be logged into a valid, verified account which is in good-standing in order to be able to see contest files. Student accounts will be able to see contest files dating back one year prior to their start date, through the end of the year of their graduation date. Teacher/sponsor accounts can see all files for all years, but we do ask that those files only be used in-class, and not be shared or posted on the wider internet. Sharing or posting HPE CodeWars files on the public internet is grounds for the cancelation of a teacher/sponsor account.

2024-01-16 Update

The following things have changed since the last video walkthrough was made:

  • It is no longer possible to register for an account without selecting your school. If your school is not in the list, please contact us and request that we add it.
  • Waivers are now perpetual, and will not need to be re-signed every year, as stated in the video.

2024-01-16 Update

The following things have changed since the last video walkthrough was made:

  • You will now be asked for your graduation year during account creation. Be careful with this, because only your teacher can request a change to your graduation year once it is set. Once your graduation year has passed, your account will automatically be excluded from contest e-mails, etc. but you can still keep the account if you like, to look at contest problems from your time with the contest. NOTE: You must be logged into an account in order to see/download prior year contest problems as of 2024.

2024-01-16 Update

The following things have changed since the last video walkthrough was made:

  • On certain problems, you will be prompted for the Operating System (OS) your solution targets. E.G. you coded it on Linux, or on a Mac, or Windows. If you are confident that your solution should run on any system, keep the OS selection of "any" -- else, select the OS you used to code your solution. The judges will then mirror the OS you used when judging your solution. Failure to set the OS for your solution could lead to a failure of an otherwise working solution, which will not be undone if the solution was failed because you neglected to set the OS for the solution.
  • You can now see the total possible points for all problems in the same section where your attempts and passing solutions are shown.
